Ford Hosts the Motor City Innovation Tour
At the turn of the century, both vinyl records and the city of Detroit appeared to be out of luck, with a sharp decline following their height of popularity. Come 2017, both the city and the record have regained their cool, an undeniable fact when visiting Detroit’s buzzing Third Man Records, one of only 60 vinyl pressing plants remaining in the world, and one of the stops in Ford Motor Company’s tour of the revived Motor City. Homegrown talent like Shinola’s watch-making factory and the city’s astounding art deco and neogothic architecture were other stars of the tour from the brand that defined Detroit’s automotive history. The city is once again at the forefront of craftsmanship and design, and its cool is here to stay.
