Drake Wore a Custom RootsxOVO Varsity Jacket on Saturday Night Live
Written by Ross Vernon Dias
Toronto's very own omnipotent 6 God, Drake was the host and musical guest at Saturday Night Live's penultimate episode of the season. In his opening monologue Drake addressed Donald Trump, the memes directed at him and his relationship with Rihanna.
But the true star of Saturday’s performance was the custom-made Roots x October’s Very Own letterman jacket that he donned to wrap up the show.
The jacket features Root’s iconic chenille in off-white with SNL and October’s Very Own embellished on each breast. Additionally, the right sleeve features embroidery of Drake’s entire discography starting with his debut EP, 2011’s So Far Gone and finishing up with his latest album released earlier this month, Views.
The jacket's lining features dates of all of Drake's previous appearances on SNL including his 2014 musical guest performance and his 2011 debut hosting and musical guest duties. Roots confirmed the collaboration on their Instagram, proclaiming “When it comes to custom jacket’s it’s all about lining details.”
This rings true for the collaboration earlier this year between The Bay St. Bull and Roots for our Spring 2016 cover story with the Raptors’ shooting guard DeMar DeRozan.
