The Perfect Quick Gift for the Hostess: Nadège, Le Labo fragrances and Sloane Teas

During the holiday season, the one thing you can count on every year is at least one party invitation. As a guest that means you will need to bring a gift for your host or your hostess. The most important thing to remember when selecting a host or hostess gift is that this gift is a way to thank your hosts for their hospitality so if you are truly grateful for being invited than you should be sure to gift accordingly.

Now don’t get me wrong there is nothing particularly horrible about arriving with a well-chosen beautifully packaged bottle of wine but the holidays are an opportunity to be a little more creative.

Luxury Candles

A lux candle is always a decadent gift. My first choice for a candle is from Le Labo, which I source from Gee Beauty in Toronto. They carry sophisticated scents that are interesting but not overwhelming and for that extra special touch you can have your candle personalized in store for your host or hostess. Another excellent option is from Jo Malone, available at Holt Renfrew. They have a beautiful collection of candles and diffusers, and as a special treat, the associate will typically include some sample sizes of the fragrance, so your host can enjoy the fragrance when they aren’t at home.

Loose Leaf Teas

A loose-leaf tea is another wonderful host or hostess gift option. There are many excellent purveyors of fine teas such as Sloane Tea but a lovely new company I’ve found recently is Westholme Tea from Canada’s only team farm. They have a variety of fragrant and delicious teas that are beautifully packaged and it makes a perfect and very Canadian host or hostess gift.

Indulgent Sweets

The holidays are definitely a time to be indulgent and there’s nothing more indulgent than sweets. Number one on my list are macarons from Nadège patisserie, which has multiple locations in Toronto as well as an online store. They are always beautifully packaged and freshly made and there is a flavor for every palate. If you know your hosts are Madeleines fans, they also make spectacular Madeleines, just be sure to order ahead or get there early because they are always sell out quickly as they are made fresh daily.
