Grocery stores aren’t usually the first that come to mind when you think of innovation and business leadership. But then again, Loblaws isn’t just your run-of-the-mill grocery store. Unlike many of its competitors, the Canadian brand has always looked outside of the box to best serve the needs of its customers. For one, they were successfully able to transform their line of no name products, President’s Choice, into a name brand by offering quality on a premium level. Let’s also not forget that they continue to be the only grocery retailer that offers an in-house clothing brand (Joe Fresh), which many mocked when it was first rolled out into stores. With their recent acquisition of Shoppers Drug Mart, things should only get more interesting as they continue to diversify and innovate.
